Matthys (Thys) Mocke obtained the degree BA. LLB in 1993 from the University of Stellenbosch. He completed his internship as an attorney in December 1995 and became a partner at the law firm Morkel, Olivier, P. du Toit. He specialised in commercial law and maritime related matters.Thys acted as attorney for various national and international groups.Thys founded the South African Commercial Fishermen’s Corporation (SACFC) and served as the chief executive officer for 3 years until October 2000. He also founded a fishing corporation in Eritrea in partnership with the Eritrean government. During this time he also served as a director of several fishing companies.In November 2000 Thys joined WipCapital, a specialised merchant bank, as their representative in Cape Town and was involved in various transactions during this time. In 2003 Thys was a co-founder of Ububele Holdings Ltd and joined the company in a full-time capacity in early 2004. He served as legal advisor, and was general manager of the Ububele agricultural division between 2004 and 2011. He was involved in the private placing and listing of Ububele during this time in his capacity as legal director and member of the risk committee. Thys served on the audit and acquisition committees during this time. In November 2011 he became the chief operations officer of Ububele and was responsible for all operations of Ububele.Thys left Ububele in August 2013 and is currently the Chief Executive Officer of the Radicle Group and Chairman of Navigate Consulting Services.
