Matti is a Partner in the Corporate Litigation Group in Stikeman Elliott's Calgary office with over 15 years of experience. She is a highly experienced trial and arbitration lawyer, acting as lead counsel on complex, high value disputes. Matti regularly appears in court with many reported decisions. She has represented parties in both domestic and international litigation and arbitration, and is very adept at navigating cross-border matters and appeals. She assists clients in a range of industry sectors, including intellectual property, oil and gas, construction, banking and insolvency, environmental, real property, utilities, insurance, mining and others. Her practice includes representing clients in disputes and compliance matters in shareholder and partnership disputes, fraud, oil and gas interests, securities, project and construction disputes, environmental contamination, debts, contested insolvency proceedings, copyright, trademark and confidential information. Matti has been recognized as a Litigation Star by Benchmark Litigation Canada since 2021 in the areas of arbitration, commercial, energy and insolvency. Matti has represented parties before all levels of court in Canada, including all levels in Alberta and the Federal Courts, and in British Columbia, Ontario, Saskatchewan, Nova Scotia, all levels in the Falkland Islands, and the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council. She has acted as counsel in private and investor-state international arbitrations under ad hoc and institutional rules including ICC, LCIA, UNCITRAL, under treaties including NAFTA, WTO-TRIPS and Berne Convention and in domestic arbitrations under ADRIC rules. She is a director of the ADR Institute of Canada and has guest lectured at the University of Alberta Faculty of Law.
