My life has made a chameleon – doctor, stand-up comedian, award-winning TV host, actor, philanthropist, keynote speaker. Known for my enthusiasm, professionalism, and innate sense of humor, I connect with audiences, influence mindsets, and call people to action.After graduating with honors from Princeton University and Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, I took a break to reevaluate my career path. My heart just wasn’t in medicine, so I dived into stand-up comedy, found my calling, and never looked back.Medical school instilled a sense of mission in me that, combined with my personal experiences, compelled me to make a difference in people’s lives. In 2002, I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis and I later survived cancer. I gained a deep understanding into the other side of the stethoscope and leaned the importance of humor to bring joy to other people fighting chronic illnesses.Hosting TV shows, including a hit reality competition series, and being a comedian has allowed me to reach more people than I ever could have as a doctor & shown me the importance of telling stories.I share my story and those of others, educate people on critical issues and challenging diseases, and raise awareness and funds for organizations such as City of Hope Hospital where I underwent cancer surgery, the Arthritis Foundation, and Operation Smile. I traveled to Afghanistan to perform for U.S. troops and am a regular on the LA comedy club circuit. My CD, “I Want a Happy Ending,” is an iTunes sensation.Sharing my story helped me win Celebrity Apprentice & that allowed me to raise almost $1M for the Arthritis Foundation. Since then, I’ve raised millions more, including more than $3M in one night as the auctioneer for Arnold Schwarzenegger’s charity event. I delivered keynote presentations for hospitals, pharmaceutical companies, and corporations that inspired and motivated audiences of up to 10K people.
