I contract with 60+ community-based partners to offer classes, camps and programs to serve thousands of participants. One highlight is the creation of the Healthier Because We Live Here initiative with our wellness coordinator for the city. This effort is now supported by twenty community-based partners as we work collaboratively to address current health issues throughout Shawnee and Johnson County.*Special event management. I oversee and create multiple events throughout the year. This includes large- and small-scale events like our craft fairs, summer concert, drive-in movie nights and more. One highlight in this is the Kids Fest Business Fair, which is an opportunity for youth to sell their goods and services and receive business coaching; it was sponsored by grants, supported by local community-based partners and ultimately was the winner of the 2020 Innovative Recreation Program of the Year from the Kansas Recreation and Parks Association (KRPA).*Grant application and grant management. In 2019 we were awarded the KRPA Healthy Hometown Grant to support launching new programs for youth and families including Kids Night Outs, Kids Fest Business Fair and Walk and Reads. In 2022 we were awarded the National Recreation and Parks Association (NRPA) Community Wellness Hub grant, which supported the formation of a health and wellness initiative, with an equitable approach to filling gaps in our community's needs. This position was created for me to help provide greater support in our association’s goal to serve families through our community centers, as well as serve at the Platte County Community Center South YMCA location.Supported the thirteen Youth & Family departments around Kansas City Y locations that served youth and family participants.Helped onboard new supervisors at centers, as well as provided ongoing support at each of the centers that served youth.Created citywide youth & family initiatives to make sure all centers were reaching for high standards. Examples of this included expanding STEM opportunities through grants for all centers as well as development of standardized onboarding processes and job descriptions.Served on our association’s Strategic Planning team to help develop the 10-year plan in the area of Youth Development and helped establish guidelines to serve over a hundred thousand youth in Kansas City.Managed a budget of $250,000 for our facility’s department; increased our income and reduced expenses every year through our programs and special events.Hired and developed a staff team that averaged around 15-20 part-time associates, including two assistant managers. We served 1,000+ youth a week, put on special events and support general facility operations.Developed and fostered local partnerships to work together on large projects to impact the community. Examples include the community’s New Year’s Eve event; I took this over in 2013 and grew in number of attendees, partners and overall feedback of the program.
