I started freelance content writing in 2006.I cut my teeth on mesothelioma articles and followed that up with payday loan articles. At a time when 5% keyword density and a few article directory links got you a first page ranking, it was bulk SEO content, at best. But, it paid the bills. And it got me out of the office life. From there, I wrote a lot of articles and submitted them to article directories, while honing my skills and learning the trade. Eventually, I started writing for an antivirus company, and started taking more complex and, quite frankly, better paying gigs. Guest blogging replaced article directories and keyword density requirements lessened. In 2016, I went back into the office to work as head of content for an SEO agency, improving my competitor analysis, keyword research, and editing skills, while also working on a wider range of content types. By the end of 2019, I found myself freelancing again, getting back into the industry just before Covid lockdowns struck. And if the opportunity exists, I would relish the chance to write about my other passion, board gaming and tabletop gaming.
