As an Assistant Solicitor General I:● Prosecuted misdemeanor criminal cases with charges including DUI, drug possession, domestic violence, and property crimes.● Reviewed incident/accident reports, reviewed and evaluated incident videos, interviewed law enforcement officers, lay witnesses, experts, and victims.● Researched case law, drafted proposed orders & jury charges, and complied with discovery and production orders.● Evaluated and developed strategies for successful motion hearings, plea negotiations, and jury trials.● Researched and compiled "quick case law" guides on frequently argued issues for use at both motions and trial on topics including search and seizure, Implied Consent, Williams & Birchfield, the history and validation studies of field sobriety tests, and the standard for admissibility of those evaluations.● Wrote comprehensive evaluation of common defense expert witnesses including their theories, practical defenses and counters arguments, and cross examination opportunities.● Served as lead counsel for 15 jury trials in 2016.

Working under the Graduate Practice Act I was responsible for:● Drafting accusations, responses to motions, case summaries, and plea recommendations.● Handling plea negotiations, arraignments, calendar call, and conducting victim/witness interviews.● Researching and arguing motion arguments, including motions to suppress, motions for new trial, and motions to modify sentencing.

Working under the Third-year practice act I was responsible for:● Drafting accusations, indictments, and responses to defense motions.● Presenting cases to Grand Jury, participating in pre-trial conferences, first-appearance and arraignment, negotiating and accepting pleas, extraditions, and conducting voir dire.● Weekly preparation and presentation of bond arguments for all major felony cases.● Managing incoming requests for record restrictions and ensuring all requests were investigated and processed within statutory time requirements.● Developing a new process flow for all incoming asset forfeiture cases including tracking existing cases, keeping law enforcement appraised, and responding to all dispute/contested claims on seized assets.While sitting second chair during a murder trial I was responsible for:Presenting the opening statement and conducting direct examination of the lead case agent, GBI firearm forensic analyst, and two other witnesses.
