The scheme is designed to increase community access to justice and legal services where all other avenues of assistance have been exhausted. The scheme is also a useful focal resource for non-profit organisations to seek assistance from the legal profession. Law Access has been able to provide assistance in relation to general advice, constitutions, leases, with the obtaining of public benevolent institute status, and resolution of internal disputes. I have also successfully appeared in opposition to a bail review hearing in the Supreme Court, drafted affidavits in support of applications in the District and Supreme Courts and drafted submissions for appeals in the Supreme Court and Court of Appeal and instructed in long running complex jury trials in the District Court, which included the management of disclosure of material to the accused, the co-ordination of and proofing of witnesses and provision of assistance and instructions to counsel. Travers & Keogh is a small general firm in the outer Perth suburb of Kelmscott. The majority of my work in this firm involved residential and commercial property, estates and Magistrates Court litigation. I also appeared in some criminal matters and drafted wills. My practice included both working in a team with another solicitor and the autonomous conduct of matters.
