After finishing my consulting role with Music Dealers, I rejoined ReachLocal as the regional sales manager with oversight of 35 staff. Each week I coached my team to meet sales metrics and close new business deals. During this time, I was able to change the sales technique for the local sales team which increased sales revenue in the Chicago market. I expanded team sales from $750K to $2M in 1 year. This experience ultimately led me to found Charu Interactive, Inc. because of the insight I gained into client relationships and business development.

Here, I partnered with an agency providing music licensing services as an advisor for the sales team. I created key initiatives to grow new and existing accounts along with playbooks for each business development manager. As a consultant, I set appropriate sales metrics and developed a new process for conducting client meetings. I also used Salesforce to manage the sales pipeline and client communications.

As a sales representative, I championed the ReachLocal brand through strong customer service, networking, and community involvement. Throughout my tenure in this role, I was top producer within the office, as well as the #3 ranked representative worldwide in sales and retention.

My managerial career at ReachLocal began with this role where I helped hire and train the sales representatives while also generating new business and maintaining my own clients. I developed and executed a plan to identify and prioritize target verticals and key accounts within the local market. As a key player in coaching the sales force, I was able to establish a robust day-to-day call cycle with a strategy for prospecting and consultative selling. I also managed the operational functions of the office and reports sales metrics, growth, retention, and other critical data.

I began my tenure with ReachLocal promoting and demonstrating the value of products and services. I consulted with local clients to generate sales and grow my book of business from scratch. I was able to hone my customer service skills and foster long term relationships with clients. I oversaw search, display, and social media campaigns after determining a path to achieving sales goals. In this position, I was able to drive retention and growth through expanding existing business and fostering a robust referral network.

As a leader in this role, I helped the startup magazine manage ad sales, event marketing, and event sponsorship. I closed $15K in ad sales prior to the magazine going to print production.

Here, I hired, trained, and managed a sales team driving ad sales for the magazine publication. This position taught me to juggle multiple priorities at once by creating events and managing client needs. I also organized media and corporate partnerships for advertising, events, and sponsorships. A highlight of this tole was being named the top sales representative all 3 years of my tenure.

In 2002, I gained my first experience managing a team of promotional event staff. I owned marketing and promotional activity for various national liquor brands creating and setting up events. In this position, I had ownership of all elements of planning and execution for major brands, including budgeting and inventory for my accounts. I also had the opportunity to lead new concepts and ideas for both my clients and the agency.

In my early career, I managed event teams for client promotions, giving me my first professional exposure to the marketing industry. I created relationships with various venues to host on-premises events and promotions. I also organized top venues in the Chicago area for brand events and engagements.
