Trees are part of our built environment and if assessed properly in any planning process can become a significant financial and aesthetic asset to a development.My speciality:• Assessing the feasibility of potential construction sites to the guidance set out in BS5837:2012 by providing a tree survey and constraints plan• Protecting trees as assets by establishing a tree protection plan and an arboricultural impact assessment• Ensuring planning conditions are met by providing an arboricultural method statement and a monitoring programme at key stages of the development• Reassuring estate agents, homeowners and mortgage lenders on the condition and suitability of trees on a property• Helping local authorities, highways and landowners meet their duty of care obligations by assessing the safe condition of their tree assets• Providing realistic management plans for owners of small or large tree stocks, tailored to individual budgets• Advising custodians of special trees on their legal status (tree preservation order and conservation area)• Supporting owners of ancient and veteran trees with management guidance.• Assisting local authorities and individuals with tree planting schedules; establishing the right tree for the right place. About me: I have 24 years’ experience working in arboriculture. Since 1996 I have developed a pragmatic approach to tree management through hands on experience and in an advisory capacity, allowing insight to the various stages of working with trees. I have been involved from initial site visits to carrying out advised works and use the feedback of others to make the process as smooth as possible. Working with parish, local and county levels of council, I have gained significant insight into effective tree management, from single tree assessments to policy writing levels.
