Matt earned his BA and BS in Architecture from Washington State University in 1996. He played major roles at several Portland firms early in his career. In 2003 he founded Loosemore Design and after three years of being a sole proprietor, he co-founded SUM Design Studio in 2006. He recently taught as an adjunct professor in the Architecture program at Portland State University. In his 25+ years of experience, he has worked on many projects varying in scale, typology and clientele. Matt's project experience includes residential, commercial, breweries/restaurants, banks, credit unions, resort hotels, schools, libraries and mixed use. He is passionate about modern design and infill development.Matt believes that a successful design practice is composed of interpersonal skill, client communications and aesthetics; without the ability to integrate and balance the three components, it is impossible to meet the needs of the community.
