Covenant Logistics is a premium service provider of transportation services with focus on temperature-controlled products, regional, and long-haul delivery. McLelland is responsible for leading all sustainability, CSR, and ESG initiatives while also retaining all prior responsibilities as Innovation Strategist. His focuses include researching current industry trends, emerging technologies, and meeting with new startups in the logistics industry and evaluating their applicability to Covenant’s strategy of providing more affordable, safer delivery of products to our customers. He is also heavily involved with research and testing products allowing for the eventual "decarbonization of freight", autonomous vehicles, and alternative fuels. McLelland regularly speaks at different national and regional events on supply chain trends and innovation.

In my role as Innovation Strategist I work directly with senior leadership to research current solutions and future trends in the logistics industry and evaluate their applicability to our strategy of providing more affordable, safer, cleaner delivery of products to our customers. Lately - I've been spending alot of time looking at Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Environmental / Social Governance (ESG). My co-workers call me "Future-Man".

I took a short professional hiatus to work with the founder of Site Seven to complete the build of my 2017 Mercedes 144 2500 4X4 adventure van. Their founder, Justin Shipp, is one of the most talented van builders in the country and Site Seven's team are experts at upfitting Mercedes cargo vans for the outdoor adventure market. Located in Chattanooga, Tennessee - Site Seven Campers is one of the few upfitters in the southeastern United States and produces some of the highest quality vans in the industry.

Although we have a rich history of consistently bringing new, innovative solutions to our customers, our management team recently created Kenco Innovation Labs to formally lead this development.We are a dedicated team of who identify, research, and prototype creative ideas with the potential to impact the supply chain. Collaborating with customers, entrepreneurs, and vendors from multiple industries enables Kenco to think outside the box and create unique, customer-driven solutions. As Innovation Research Manager, my responsibilities begin with researching emerging technologies, innovations, and processes relevant to our customers and industry. Working in collaboration with other team members we pick the most promising trends, identify vendors / leaders in these fields, and explore solutions to further research and prototype.

Assumed additional responsibility for oversight, strategy, and implementation for all enterprise software across the entire Kenco family of companies. Managed software selection, contract negotiation, implementation, and post production support for all cloud based and on premise enterprise level systems.In 2014 company leadership asked the IT department to research and report on innovative / emerging technologies in the logistics space and to evaluate their potential fit into the portfolio of solutions offered by the Kenco family of companies. I was part of a small team dedicated to this task.

Responsible for all software utilized by the corporate accounting group. Managed implementations for Microsoft Dynamics GP, FRx Financial Reporting, WennSoft, TMW Systems, QuickBooks, SQL Reporting Services, Concur Expense Management, and UltiPro HR / Payroll.

Responsible for technology strategy and deployment for both organizations. Worked with select non-profits (supported by the Foundation) to help their leadership develop overall IT strategy, select / implement donor management tools, develop new platforms for electronic communication, and implement solutions for e-Fundraising.

Tempted by ownership opportunities during the height of the dot-com era, I was successfully recruited from PeopleSoft by Bob Corker (currently a Senator for the state of Tennessee) as a key employee for a startup Application Service Provider. I was responsible for sales support, new customer setup / coordination, strategic planning, and account management. 4 months into this new position, Stonefort Technologies was purchased by another ASP (Freeliant). Freeliant then merged with competitive local exchange carrier (CLEC) KMC Telecom, and later folded in December of 2001.

As consultant, senior consultant, process specialist, and project manager, my primary responsibilities were to assist customers with the planning, implementation, and final roll out of PeopleSoft's financial, distribution, and manufacturing software. Leveraging product knowledge and experience gained from other projects, I guided customers though current process definition, system setup / design, process review / modification, and integration of current business practices with PeopleSoft’s “out-of-the-box” processes.

As staff consultant I worked on large project teams implementing business solutions involving both custom-developed and pre-packaged software. I was responsible for business requirements gathering, custom application development, system testing, user training, and documentation. As a senior consultant I performed many of these same tasks but was also responsible for managing small teams of consultants, working with firm partners on internal projects, and working on dedicated sales teams with the development and delivery of proposals.

Technical Support Representative at IBM through the University of Georgia's co-operative education program. I alternated quarters of my UGA education with working in the Operating System Support Group of IBM in Atlanta, Georgia and Research Triangle Park, North Carolina.Provided telephone-based technical support for IBM Business Partners on all version of MS-DOS, OS/2, DB2/2, and OS/2 Lan Manager.
