My final placement on the graduate scheme was working as a technology manager in the networks and connectivity team. My sole focus was on the voice networks that support our stores, depots, offices and call centres. Responsibilities included:• Rollout of new hardware to several hundred stores across our estate• Introducing/modifying processes to simplify requests and incident reporting of telephony hardware• Analysing the monthly expenditure and identifying areas that can be reduced• Designing and testing of an in house broadcasting solution • Collaborating with third parties to organise migration of hardware from data centres

I worked in the UK & ROI forecasting team as a technology manager, responsible for an offshore development team. I spent 3 months of the placement in Bengaluru, India working with the development team to prepare the system for peak over the christmas period, as well as providing training on agile practices.In this role my main responsibilities were:• Ensure the system is capable of dealing with the increased demand over peak• Design a process for the backup forecasts that can be used during system downtime• Drive the push for CICD practices on the mainframe • Coach the development team in agile/scrum methodologies• Regular communication with stakeholders to keep them aware of processes and changes• Carry out a refresh of the existing testing environment whilst also drawing up plans for a replacement environment

My first placement on the Technology Leadership graduate scheme was as a solution architect working on the front end of Tesco Direct. During my time in this team I was responsible for:• Assisting in the creation of a new testing environment for the four development teams: - Setup Jenkins to automate our build process and allow the teams to release code at anytime - Installed Sonarqube to monitor the code quality of release, and integrated it with Jenkins - Carried out maintenance to the environment, and provided training to team members• Working with product owners to develop technical solutions to business problems, which could then be passed to our development teams• Introducing error logging to our email systems, which would pass details to our customer service teamsI also had the opportunity to take over as scrum master of a UI development team:• Oversaw the transition of the team from UI focused to a full end to end development team, without impacting the release velocity• Provided agile coaching, including the introduction to Scrum• Coordinated the various ceremonies such as stand up, sprint retrospectives, and worked closely with the Product Owners to manage the backlog• Removed blockers stopping the development team working at full capacity - introduced a guide on inducting products into the test environments

Worked in Retail IT on the MiDevice project. My role was to re-design the screens of the device and make it more useable for our colleagues. I was also heavily involved in a series of testing stages and rolling it out into store. Gained a valuable insight into technology with a multi channel retailer.
