Hello! I’m Matt Melendrez (he/him), currently a third-year student at California State University, Long Beach.As a proud first-generation Filipino-American pursuing a degree in political science, I am committed to making a difference in immigration law, with aspirations to serve as an immigration attorney in the future. This year, I have the privilege of serving as the Executive Vice President of ASI at Long Beach State, where I’ve been dedicated to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for our student community. Previously, as the ASI Senator-at-large for First Year Programs, I engaged directly with first-year students, advocating on their behalf and amplifying their voices within our university. Hearing their unique stories has deepened my understanding of the diverse challenges that students face on our campus.In addition to my university role, I am passionate about collaborating and supporying youth organizations and working closely with our local Filipino community in Long Beach. Advocacy has always been central to my journey, from participating in Youth and Government to actively engaging in university leadership. I believe that everyone deserves a voice, and I am committed to championing a future where all voices are heard and valued.
