    Many men are falsely accused of sexual harassment and sexual imposition; a 3rd degree misdemeanor. In society today, many too many men are assumed guilty as soon as they are accused. Too many men have been wrongly convicted of this misdemeanor and given a label of Sex Offender for 15 years which destroys their life. This is cruel and unusual punishment. The John Proctor Law was started because the founder was falsely accused and convicted of a 3rd degree misdemeanor without any proof. We are looking to change the laws for those who have no prior record and who are convicted of a 3rd degree misdemeanor to remove the Puritan era equivalent of the Scarlet Letter A to a two year, expungable offense, like any other misdemeanor so that the men can move on with their lives.This is called the John Proctor Law because in the book, The Crucible, which was about the Salem witch trials, the character, Abigail, accuses John Proctor's wife, Parris, of witchcraft, which Abigail herself was guilty of, but tragically John Proctor's wife was convicted and killed for this. In the book John Proctor states, "Why do you never wonder if Parris be innocent, or Abigail? Is the accuser always holy now? Were they born this morning as clean as God's fingers? I'll tell you what's walking Salem -- vengeance is walking Salem...I'll not give in to vengeance."
