One Hope United (formerly Kids Hope United) works to protect children and strengthen families by providing a diverse array of prevention, intervention and community-based support programs to vulnerable, high-risk populations, as well as education and advocacy on the local, state and national levels.

The Commissions were funded through a public-private partnership between the State of Florida and the Ounce of Prevention Fund of Florida.2003 - 2005: Commission on Marriage & FamilyThe Florida Legislature created the Commission on Marriage & Family in 2003, which finished its work in 2008. The purpose was to advise the Governor, Legislature, and Supreme Court on local, state, and national programs and policies in efforts to better support fathers, couples, marriages, and families in Florida.The Commission consisted of 12 members appointed by the Florida Governor, the President of the Florida Senate, and the Speaker of the Florida House of Representatives. I served as the commission's inaugural executive director, and later as a State Commissioner on behalf of the Speaker of the Florida House of Representatives.The Commission operated under the "Sunshine Law", which meant meetings, activities, and communications were open to the public.1999 - 2003: Commission on Fatherhood The Florida Legislature created the Commission on Responsible Fatherhood in 1996. The purpose was advise the Governor, Legislature, and Supreme Court on local, state, and national programs and policies in efforts to better support fathers' respecting the mother of their children as well as becoming and remaining actively engaged in their children's lives.The Commission consisted of 18 members appointed by the Florida Governor, the President of the Florida Senate, the Speaker of the Florida House of Representatives, and the Chief Justice of the Florida Supreme Court. I served as the commission's second executive director. The Commission operated under the "Sunshine Law", which meant meetings, activities, and communications were open to the public.This Commission was absorbed by the Commission Marriage and Family Support in 2005. I helped the Legislature develop the Commission on Marriage and Family Support, for which I served as the inaugural executive director.
