Organised the management and provision of direction to a team of over 20 specialist personnel introducing new equipment into Service.- Identified and delivered organisational changes, training requirements and creation of new tactics and procedures to bring into Service a wide range of new equipment for operations in Afghanistan and beyond.

Oversaw the introduction of a programme of professional and life skills development in the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (totalling over 15,000 soldiers and their families), requiring the provision of regular updates to the Head of State and Ministers. The programme consolidated the Army in sustainable cantonments, further developed the recruiting and training establishment and established a new and civilian certified Armed Forces College. The reorganisation directly contributed to the maintenance of peace and security in a developing country with a history of political instability and located in a region that continues to influence continental if not global security.

Led and managed a complex reorganisation under operational conditions that required the closure of two units each with over 500 military and civilian personnel; presenting difficult leadership and political challenges. Required the formal audit and subsequent disposal of a wide range of public and non-public equipment and Defence estate, including several security bases worth millions of pounds. Managed and led the formation of a new organisation of over 1500 individuals to provide direct support to 3 Police Divisions and the Emergency Services. On completing the project 18 months early with no loss of output and the delivery of substantial financial and operational efficiencies was awarded the Queen’s Commendation for Valuable Service.

Delivered key middle-management professional training at degree level to a range of military, civilian and international students (to include decision-making, strategic planning, inter-agency co-operation, problem solving and staff management).

Provision of Policy advice on procurement of land-based equipment systems to senior Board-Level within the Ministry of Defence as part of a strategic level review to deliver, as part of a team that included professional civilian business consultants, stream-lined government procurement procedures that adhere to rules of public accountability and political audit.
