My work has always been driven by two guideposts: meaningful and memorable.As a journalist for 20 years, first locally and then nationally, I pushed to report in-depth stories about issues the media often overlooks:Housing. Education. Health care. The environment. Social justice. And so many more.Through it all, I explored important subjects and uplifted those bringing solutions. I traveled the world and was honored with dozens of local, regional, and national awards.Now I want to work with you directly.I want to tell your stories in ways that will captivate users, donors, and everyone in between. I want to spotlight your work and those who make it special, with empathy, humanity, and dignity.Prior to this work, I navigated a singular career in broadcast journalism. I was an active news reporter who wrote two books. I was a solo video journalist who produced documentaries. I was a nationally award-winning storyteller who used my platform to lift others.Born and raised in New Jersey, I graduated from Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism. I worked at stations in Sioux City, Iowa and Buffalo, N.Y. before joining WXIA-TV in Atlanta in 2009, where I served as an enterprise reporter and the station's Chief of Storytelling and Development. In 2021 I became a national correspondent for E.W. Scripps, where I reported long-form, in-depth stories that ran across the company's dozens of local TV stations nationwide.My job took me around the globe. I reported from the Democratic Convention, presidential Inauguration, the World Series, three Super Bowls, and three Olympic Games. My work has been honored with 40 Regional Emmy Awards and 16 Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards, and I am a five-time NPPA National Solo Video Journalist of the Year.In 2013, I started the Telling the Story blog and podcast. In 2016, I authored The Solo Video Journalist, a how-to book for aspiring storytellers and multimedia journalists, through Routledge and Focal Press. The second edition was published in the summer of 2020. Most recently, I received my MFA degree in Narrative Media from the University of Georgia.I carry those foundations into this chapter. I remain based in Atlanta but am happy to travel anywhere in America - and around the world - to do this work. I remain committed to journalistic principles and people-centered storytelling.And I remain someone who uses my skills and platform to lift others.
