"The Overlook with Matt Peiken" is the flagship production from Podcast Asheville. It's a hyperlocal podcast about the news, arts, issues and trends of Asheville, NC. Each episode is a long-form interview with elected officials, civic leaders and nonprofit directors tackling important needs of this city, along with local musicians, authors and artists.

Cincinnati, Oh

As part of WCPO's digital team, I produced online video, narrative feature articles and opinion columns about people, trends and issues around Cincinnati-area arts/culture.

Supervised and led a team of seven Local Editors in the daily production of editorial content and web site management. Brainstormed, conceived, contributed to and executed an array of national, regional and team-wide Patch initiatives, including the recruitment of community bloggers and other user-generated content. Coached individual Local Editors on specific story concepts and reporting and writing approaches. I also spearheaded training in video, blogging, content aggregation, community engagement and social media best practices.

Greater Minneapolis-St. Paul Area

3-Minute Egg is "the Twin Cities arts seen"—the only online video program connecting audiences with new and current work in theater, music, dance, visual art and other artistic disciplines. I originally produced 3-Minute Egg from 2008-2010, producing more than 330 videos and single-handedly converting them into 26 half-hour episodes that aired statewide over Twin Cities Public Television. I relaunched the show in 2016.

Oversaw content of bimonthly publication, wrote feature stories and served as first line-editor for incoming copy. Initiated efforts to broaden publication’s appeal beyond museum’s membership. As part of regular contributions to the Walker blogs, I launched a video blog called Eavesdrop, showcasing slices of life inside the museum.

Penned many multi-part series and long-form human-interest narratives as a general features writer. Covered classical music, dance, visual art, jazz, rock, comedy, performance poetry, experimental theater and multidisciplinary arts through five years covering the arts.Other beats included editorial writer (August to December 2006), urban life reporter (September 2005 to August 2006) and youth lifestyles writer (May 1997 to December 2000).
