The Director of Engineering is integral to Eagle Copter’s executive team and responsible for the overall success of a multi-disciplinary team of Engineers and Technologists. Additionally, as the Head of DAO, the Director of Engineering is responsible for obtaining and maintaining Eagle’s Transport Canada DAO and for all approvals related to a large portfolio of STCs and validations. Responsibilities include overall Engineering governance including budgeting and strategic planning; providing quotes ands proposals; development of internal Engineering processes and procedures; consulting on overall company compliance to TCCA and FAA requirements; resource allocations and management; hiring, terminations, and individual performance monitoring as well as training or corrective action plans. Further, responsibilities also include ensuring execution of Engineering operations by way of project management; project and task scheduling; review and quality control of Engineering product; technical approvals, including design change and deviation requests; contract and sub-contract management with companies in Canada and the USA; communication and coordination of technical responses with customers, manufacturers and suppliers; mentoring of direct reports; and, generation and maintenance of department metrics (KPIs) and reports.

The Manager of Aircraft Certification Engineering is part of FLYHT’s Senior Management team and is responsible for the overall success of an eight-person, multi-disciplinary, team of Engineers and Technologists. Additionally, the Manager of ACE is responsible for FLYHT’s Transport Canada DAO and is involved in all approvals related to a large portfolio of STCs and validations. Responsibilities include project management; project and task scheduling; budgeting and strategic planning; providing proposals for Engineering services; resource allocations and time approvals; technical approvals including design change and deviation requests; development of internal company and department processes and procedures; development and review of quality procedures to suit TCCA, FAA and AS9100 requirements; sub-contract management with companies in Canada, the USA and Europe; communication and coordination of technical responses with airline and OEM customers, manufacturers and suppliers; mentoring of direct reports; and, generation and maintenance of department metrics and reports for both on-time delivery and deliverable quality KPIs.

The Project Engineer completes all of the required design, analysis and documentation for the submission and approval of STCs with Transport Canada, FAA, EASA and/or CAAC for a variety of large commercial aircraft including Boeing B737 / B757 / B767 / B777, Airbus A320 family, Bombardier CRJ, DeHavilland Dash 8, ATR 42/72, Embraer E-190 and Fokker F70/F100. Installations include systems and audio integration, human factors considerations and structural installation of components. Structural design and analysis typically require antenna installations with associated pressure vessel penetrations and DTA/Fatigue Analysis.

The Cormorant Support Centre provides In-Service Support to the CH149 Cormorant Fleet of Search and Rescue Helicopters under a DND accredited ATO. The Special Processes and Projects Engineering Technologist is responsible for the investigation and development of new Production and Engineering processes for use on the CH149 maintenance program as well as the design and implementation of modifications and improvements to the helicopter to suit the operator’s requirements.

The Engineering Technologist specializing in aircraft structures is primarily responsible for the design and substantiation of non-standard repairs to advanced composite and aluminum structures; carrying out airworthiness risk assessments and developing and monitoring mitigation implementation; liaising with and providing support to the CH149 main operating bases across Canada as well as third-line production personnel; carrying out technical investigations; liaising with the OEM on technical issues; performing rationalization of the periodic inspection package; and, prescribing updates to technical publications.

The focus of the Aero/Mech Technologist position is the disposition and substantiation of non-standard repairs assessed in plant or in the field; project management including generating proposals, cost estimates and schedules, monitoring progress and liaising between involved parties; modification design; technical investigation and reporting; and, providing technical guidance to the customer, production personnel, less experienced personnel within Engineering and others as required.

The ASIP (Aircraft Structural Integrity Program) Group focused primarily on CC130 Hercules fleet wide issues including life-cycles, long term structures strategies, preventive maintenance, damage tolerance analysis, severity tracking, damage mapping and tracking and other fleet wide issues. The Preventive Maintenance Lead was responsible for: CC130 Maintenance Inspection Schedules including interpretation, investigation and rationalization of inspection requirements, recommending amendments to existing inspections and new inspections based on damage findings; database design, development, administration and training; and, project management activities.
