NextRadio was a product that married FM broadcast audio with real-time visuals and interactives. (Think: Pandora, but with FM as the audio stream). It was developed in partnership with the radio industry and integrated with Emmis' metadata service (TagStation). It had 10s of millions of installs and had a WAU base of ~500K users with a 4.5+ rating. As of 2019, the app is now no longer supported.- Primary mobile developer for Android and iOS. Implemented some really interesting real-time push technology that enabled a "Live View" of what was playing across an entire market- Partnered closely with product and design to make compelling and snappy user experiences with several redesigns and overhauls.- Wrote the industry-backed API that was integrated by Samsung, HTC, LG, Motorola into their devices.- Bootstrapped and maintained all AWS infrastructure. Architect / Senior developer working mostly with ASP.net, SQL 2005 and AJAX. Participated as a developer in 17 4-week sprints 2 of which I managed the product backlog. Also involved in customizations to Team Foundation Server.
Team Leader
EPICS stands for Engineering Projects in Community Service. I was the team leader for the sub-group GLASS-AT which stands for Greater Lafayette Area Special Services - Assistive Technology. I managed about 20 engineering and tech students from disciplines including ME's, EE's, CmpE's, even audiology. Our projects were designed from the ground up to benefit special needs students at a local school. The projects range from voice analyzers, to adaptive joysticks, and even a keyboard that teaches students to type using illuminated keys and auditory stimulation. We delivered on average 2 projects per semester, with a couple projects that take longer to develop.
Software Designer/Lab Tech
I started working for the cancer research department as a lab tech running experiments and making graphs. While performing those responsibilities, automating data collection and analysis was a no-brainer.
