Matt is Statkraft's Head of Investment Analysis across Northern Europe. His remit covers commercial and technical project analysis & valuation, both of Statkraft's strong and growing development portfolio, and of large-scale M&A opportunities within the European market. Statkraft is currently realising its ambitious objectives for renewable energy development and deployment across Europe and the rest of the world, implementing its industrial-scale investment targets.When Matt moved to Statkraft, he initially headed up the UK's Optimisation & Analysis team, which was responsible for refining the UK’s substantial portfolio of wind, solar and grid services projects. He oversaw Statkraft’s participation in numerous competitive UK auctions including successful solar and wind CfD bids, and NGESO’s Stability Pathfinder 3 for grid stability.Previously Matt was Finance Director for Airvolution Clean Energy, a specialist UK wind energy developer which he co-founded and which was acquired by Statkraft in August 2019. Between 2012 and 2017 Airvolution developed and constructed eleven separate projects across the UK (value in excess of £140m, financed using both senior and equity sources). A number of these were successful acquisitions from other developers. Having been a keynote speaker at the Renewable Energy Finance and Infrastructure Summit where he presented on Financial Modelling in Renewable Energy Projects, Matt’s skills are grounded in a comprehensive understanding of various financings from his previous role as an Assistant Director at Operis, a specialist financial modelling firm. There he led teams analysing the financing of various transactions, including fund portfolio sales, fund asset valuations, corporate finance loans, PFI project bids, borrowing base models and various bespoke financings.
