I have worked in IT for over twenty five years and have loved just about every minute of it. Except for the parts that had anything to do with LocalTalk, tracking down breaks in far-too-long 10Base-2 segments, or ever being on the phone with NYNEX/BellAtlantic/Verizon/Fairpoint/etc for any reason whatsoever. Those parts were unreservedly terrible. The rest of it has been pretty great and I wouldn't trade it for the world.I am truly happiest when I am learning something new and solving problems that I have never solved before. IT is one profession where you'd be hard pressed to run out of new problems or new ways to solve them. Whether it's designing a system, a network, a product, a process, or a team -- I love all of it.I am exceptionally fortunate to have had the opportunity to generalize my experience across a very wide range of disciplines including network design, high density compute, enterprise storage, as well as an assortment of scripting and programming languages, database platforms, and operating systems. I also have experience working in depth with complex line of business applications ranging from Medical EMR platforms to Enterprise ERP stacks. This experience leaves me uniquely suited to solve problems that may require solutions that draw from many disciplines at once.I owe any success I've been lucky enough to experience to three older brothers who exposed me to technology such as hand-made Z80 computers, amateur radio, model rockets, and nigh-deadly experiences with doctored chemistry sets as well as two loving parents who always made sure I had what I needed to learn the next thing (no small expense in retrospect).
