Hello! I’m Matt Silver, CEO of Cargado, a venture-backed tech startup revolutionizing cross-border logistics. With 17 years in logistics, primarily focused on cross-border Mexico freight, I lead a team dedicated to innovation and customer-centric solutions. I am obsessed with the complexities of cross-border freight and the unique cultural dynamics between neighboring countries. This passion drives my commitment to creating innovative solutions for more efficient cross-border logistics. At Cargado, we’ve raised nearly $10M in venture capital, supported by top-tier investors like Primary Venture Partners, Ironspring Ventures, Zenda Capital, Wischoff Ventures, Proeza Ventures, Sahil Bloom, and several entrepreneurs. Our technology helps all parties involved in cross-border freight work more efficiently, allowing them to focus on relationship management and problem-solving instead of data entry. My career began at Coyote Logistics at 19, where I spent over 8.5 years and played a critical role in starting the Mexico division, contributing to its integration into UPS in 2015. In 2018, I founded Forager, a venture-backed freight tech company in Chicago. Forager developed a platform that simplified freight movement across the US, Mexico, and Canada, offering robust features for shippers and carriers, along with an internal TMS built for cross-border freight. In early 2022, Forager was acquired by Arrive Logistics, where I became Vice President of Cross-Border Solutions. I helped integrate Forager into Arrive’s Mexico division and led the Mexico group until I left at the end of September 2023 to start Cargado.I’ve also advised and invested in several startups in the logistics and supply chain sector. Building Forager taught me invaluable lessons, many from my own mistakes. I aim to help other founders learn from these experiences. With my background and network, I strive to be a valuable angel investor to supply chain startups. When not talking about Mexico freight or demoing Cargado for prospective customers, I’m usually with my family—my wife and son. You might also find me agonizing over Chicago sports, with a glimmer of hope for the Bears now that we have Caleb Williams. My past lives have included film school, music video director, and concert and architectural photographer.Subscribe to my newsletter at mattsilver.substack.com for insights and updates on cross-border logistics, freight technology, and entrepreneurship (aka building in public).
