Volunteering with the local community radio station for North East Somerset and Bristol. In my spare time, I help to improve their broadcast infrastructure and assist with the running of the station. I also present the occasional radio show.As of June 2024, I will be a member of the Volunteer Board, helping make decision to shape the station's future.

My role is to manage the IT infrastructure and uphold core Cyber Security principals. I work closely with the DevSecOps and Operations teams, providing technical support for end user devices and networks, as well as introducing new systems to handle device management, security patching and asset management. I am also involved with external certifications such as ISO 27001 and Cyber Essentials Plus.While primarily on IT and operations, I also do work within the DevSecOps team, working with their AWS cloud infrastructure. Leveraging Terraform, CloudFormation, GitLabs CI/CD and various tools.

(Celador Radio from Jan 2017 to April 2020)Previously responsible for implementing, maintaining and supporting broadcast and IT systems at our South West Broadcast Center in Bristol, working with stations on the Hits Radio / Greatest Hits Radio Networks (formerly Sam FM, The Breeze, Pirate FM & Wave 105). I provided support as part of the Radio Broadcast Technology in the South of England, and also assisted with teams across the UK, working with brands such as Kiss, Absolute, Magic, Kerrang and Planet Rock.Our broadcast infrastructure makes use of the latest Axia Livewire / AES67 technology, running RCS Zetta and GSelector, Burli Newsroom and our in-house Split Link software which I rolled out across the company.I also brought in my software development skills to create bespoke solutions to enhance the listening experience and to help our broadcast teams work more efficiently. Previous work includes Celador's in house web streaming and distribution platform, remote audio contribution systems, presenter content management system and playout metadata management.

I was responsible for overseeing and developing all IT operations within the organisation, including staff and student computers in the organisation's remit, any in-house servers and any IT applications used, including MSL (Web CMS), Fidelity (EPOS), IRIS Exchequer (Finance), PSquared Myriad (Radio Automation) and other small application services. I also managed a small team, looked after a small IT and EPOS budget and managed small projects from start to finish.In my first three months I oversaw and implemented a deployment of new Bar and Shop EPOS hardware in located in a new £9.8m building, increasing capabilities and reliability. I worked with our EPOS provider and payment provider to provide effective EPOS and card payment systems which have a turnover of over £3m annually. I set out a three year plan to continue to expand our IT and EPOS capabilities and facilities, which has now resulted in launching a redesigned database which is easier to use and maintain, and plans to keep our system up-to-date and fit for purpose.

The core of my role was managing content on the Students' Union CMS (powered by MSL - ukmsl.com). I have been involved with database/user manage,ment, going through a full design process for sections of the website, making usability improvements and design restructure, as well as general content editing and emails.Major web projects during my time include include the Freshers 2012 mini site, The UWE Charter (commissioned by UWE Bristol), Bars and Student Activities sections.On multiple occasions I have led a team to produce live video broadcasts over UStream/YouTube for live events run by the union such as live question and answer sessions, AGM and SU elections. These live events combined with effective social media and promotion have meant live streams have attracted thousands of viewers both live and on catch up after broadcast.I also assist with technical queries from both students and staff in the Website and IT field. I also provide training sessions or one-to-one sessions to students/staff.

I was involved with my university student radio station for five years, maintaining all studios and broadcast equipment to allow hundreds of students to broadcast their shows online, on 1449AM and on DAB Digital Radio as part of the Ofcom Small Scale DAB trial in Bristol. I provided advice and guidance to the student run committee, and deliver effective training to members when necessary.I joined in 2011 when I started to look after and maintain the station's studios and technical infrastructure as no-one had taken this responsibility, the technologies used were deprecated (RealPlayer!) and the facilities were starting to fall into disrepair. Over the last number of years, I have constantly improdved the facilities available, upgraded streaming/back-end equipment, repaired several mixing desk and upgraded the studio capabilities, all with a very limited budget. During my short time as Station Manager, I made various changes throughout to improve collaboration, organization and with the aim for the next year to improve listener figures and participation from students and its members. I briefly worked with the Creative Technology department at Global on a voluntary basis. I worked on low priority projects that included rewriting a Qt application that converted HTML generated content into compressed images, and developed an application that displayed live and queued song information and metadata on digital screens.

Intern software engineer at Broadcom Bracknell. I work with elements of the LTE stack protocol, specifically the RRC stack module, and the testing of implemented features.The first few months has been introducing me to the basics of LRRC and an overview of LTE in general.During the placement my main focus was an internal module testing tool which allowed testing of LRRC to happen without having to hook up to a lab setup and having to test all other stack modules. I have made stability improvements to the PC program, ported the tool to new development board platforms, made enhancements to the message XML parser and serialiser/deserialiser, and have implemented new messages such as CMAS, IRAT and counter check. I am also the main person to go to regarding any setup or running issues with this tool and keep the program in working order.I have been involved with testing and fixing enhancements to the LRRC CMAS implementation (Commercial Mobile Alert System, now known as WEA, Wireless Emergency Alerts). I wrote test scripts with our internal testing tool to test features which may not be covered in the basic lab tests, provided fixes to any issues I discovered, and ported the code to the latest development platform as improvements started on the old platform.I have also been involved with helping with general LRRC fixes and improvements.

I worked at TESCO Cirencester as a customer assistant at checkouts. My roles were mainly at standard checkouts, but I have also been involved with manning self-service checkouts and petrol station machines.I adapted to different roles during that time depending on store requirements, which involved customer services, helping to respond to checkout request, put-backs, shelf stacking/tidying, and more.I was presented with a company values award due to my commitment, hard work and teamwork.

My job was to advise customers with information on electronic products such as laptop computers, flatscreen TV's, digital cameras, sat-navs and some white goods in-store.
