My passion in life is building companies that tackle socio-economic issues through entrepreneurship. I believe in the ability of the private sector to solve society's most complex problems and that entrepreneurs are the foundation of it all. I started my first company in 2010 after reading that a mere 3% reduction in energy demand would mitigate the need for a controversial coal plant in my home state. By 2013, while still building that company, I made my first investment in a post-WWII duplex in an up-and-coming neighborhood because I felt I could generate a better return than what I was getting in the stock market, galvanizing my passion for remodeling older buildings while delivering quality, energy-efficient, green homes to the market. My experience with that project and my relationship with a fellow community member would become the genesis for what is now re-viv. re-viv is a private equity company focused on providing profitable investments for our investors while improving the communities we serve. I've built a real estate portfolio averaging a 27% annualized ROI, and I have enough passive income to retire. But, my goal is to help other startup founders, active real estate investors, and those who already know the benefit of passive real estate investing continue to build wealth to pursue their passions the same way I have. I did this with no prior experience in the industry; passing every residential green building program including the coveted RESNET Energy Rater and BPI Building Analyst. Highlights from my first company were:+ Worked in over five hundred homes and light commercial buildings as a contractor, consultant, and subcontractor.+ Awarded three grant projects: one with a public utility in South Carolina, the second with a local non-profit, and the third through another non-profit for the City of Charlotte. All focused on studying the feasibility of implementing energy efficiency measures in mobile homes, single-family homes (including 100+ year-old historic homes) to apartments (including Section 8 housing). + Broke profitability in my third year of business. + Worked with small custom home builders up to large regional track home builders in certifying their homes under the Energy Star Program, Earthcraft Green Building, and NAHB Green program. + My partner and I instituted a proprietary inspection process using Infrared Thermography (IR) to identify problems in spray foam insulated houses.+ Grew our clientele across four states: SC, NC, GA, and LA. + The first contractor of our kind to implement in-field tablets which reduced our time in the field by 75% while allowing us to deliver proposals to homeowners on the same day of our inspection.
