Matt Skinner began investing in apartment buildings in 2009 after the financial crisis left many devastated. After being a real estate developer for the previous ten years, when financing dried up for his projects, he observed that investors who owned cash flowing apartment buildings were the only ones thriving during the recession... and decided right there that from that moment on he would bullet proof his investment portfolio by owning cash flowing multifamily assets. Matt got a mentor who owned nearly 10,000 apartment units and studied under him for over a year. Then set out to buy his first building in Los Angeles,After several buildings and extensive market cycle study, Matt took his investors to Texas in 2009 and began buying value add apartment buildings. In 2014 Matt noticed there were tens of thousands of new permits being applied for in Dallas to construct new apartment buildings and began exiting that market. In 2014 Matt took his investors to Phoenix to buy in front of their job growth boom there (caused by the tech industry). Like Texas in 2014, Phoenix is now the fastest growing city in the U.S.

Triumph Foundation's mission is to help individuals with Spinal Cord Injuries to triumph over their disability and to inspire them to keep moving forward with their lives by pushing themselves to get better every day.My brother and I did all the normal stuff siblings do together... Ride bikes, go on outings, play sports. When my little brother broke his neck, our whole world changed. We were blessed to have a friend in a chair show us the ropes and give us hope and inspiration when everything was still new and scary. This experience inspired Andrew Skinner to start the Triumph Foundation (Triumph-Foundation.org) which Matt is proud Board Member today. The Triumph Foundation now helps thousands of people who find themselves in the situation that no one ever plans to be part of; physically paralyzed from an accident or from military experience. Triumph meets newly injured men, women and children in the hospital to love them and demonstrate there is life after paralysis. They have an education program to help newly injured people and their families figure out all the intricacies of their new life in a wheel chair. They host support groups for the disabled and their families; conduct sporting events, give away equipment, and even perform home renovations so people can come home from the hospital after their injury.
