An education in engineering and interest in technology innovation has resulted in 12+ years working in the energy sector focusing on technology for the energy transition and building a more efficient, sustainable future. Electricity distribution is dealing with cheaper renewable energy and energy storage options being deployed everywhere, a wealth of energy efficiency options, and the rise of the internet of things to help dynamically manage load in buildings to ultimately get the most value we can from fixed infrastructure investments. I am currently working at Vector in New Zealand, after previously working in California in the Santa Clara, Los Angeles, and San Diego. I was lucky enough to chase a dream of swimming at the Olympics (spoiler alert I didn't quite make it - but I do have a Beijing Olympics athlete's credential feel free to ask how that happened). On the way I had many people help me out, friends of friends with business connections that got me my first "real" job (while I was still training full-time), bosses that accommodated my workout and competition schedule, and my family, coaches, teammates and competitors who pushed me and supported me through the ups and downs. Many things just fell into place because of the support from my extended network and I try to return that karma whenever I can.
