Disciples of Gaming was an online gaming community based in the Halo and Call of Duty video game series’. The community had a sophisticated leadership structure, active recruitment and leadership training, code of conduct with formal enforcement and appeals systems, and included more than 2,500 members at various times in its more than ten year history. My responsibilities included creating the organization’s rules and structure, directing recruitment and growth strategies, creating and implementing systems for developing and enforcing community standards, crafting organizational structure and vision, running leadership meetings and trainings, and always working to push and grow the organization’s founding ideals. I worked closely with individual community leaders and engaged regularly in the day-to-day online experience of members at all levels. These experiences grew my abilities in organizational leadership, organizational communication, mentoring and teaching, and leading complex teams and organizations remotely.
