Layout Artist
Singleton, Ogilvy & Mather

As a junior layout artist I was, in essence, taking an Art Directors drunken scribbles on napkin and creating first-round drafts of magazine ads and brochures. While the job itself was monotonous and completely uninspiring, the environment was the complete opposite. The energy and dynamic personalities mixed with high-pressure deadlines and the relentless pursuit for coming up with great ads changed my focus from just being a designer. I wanted to write ads too. After 12 months an opportunity to join a small creative team came up and I began my 10-year journey with fatfish creative.I'll never forget my leaving day at Singos. My then Art Director announced to the small crowd of my colleagues that he was glad to see me go. I was briefly confused until he clarified that he was glad to see me go because he knew I had a great deal more to give than this place could offer.
