My role is to analyze -omics data from clinical studies in our immunology pipeline as part of a precision medicine approach to clinical development. I also work with immunologists to find new drug targets in autoimmune indications.

My main focus was on developing kinetic models for in silico drug discovery. Other duties included marketing research, web development, literature reviews, corporate strategy, and sales.

My field is genetic regulatory network (GRN) inference. I spent most of my time on a project in which we've designed RNAi knockdown gene expression experiments in order to elucidate a cancer-related (Myc) pathway GRN. A secondary goal of the project is to demonstrate efficient experimental design for GRN inference. Previously I worked on a project to investigate whether functional association data can be used as a prior for GRN inference.

Overall, I studied the soybean plant's biochemical response to aphid infestation and my goals were to elucidate this response based on leaf gene expression, characterize resistance to aphids, and identify examples of metabolic hijacking. My responsibilities ranged throughout the entire research process: from experimental design through lab work and data analysis. Bench work included RNA extraction, qPCR preparation, RNA gels, GCMS, and cell wall extraction. I wrote several software tools for this project: microarray analysis, phytohormone pathway analysis, GCMS analysis, and PCR primer design programs.

Instructor for biology lab course. I taught two sections of 20+ students for two semesters. I demonstrated lab techniques, supervised students during lab work, graded assignments and tests, and prepared and presented a half-hour mini lecture each week.

My main project was designing and developing a network visualization tool based on the MetNet database. I also worked on a metabolic flux experiment in soybean seeds, which involved seed culturing and various metabolite extractions in the lab.

I designed and developed a large data management component of a mortgage underwriting tool, coordinated a primary support rotation for the development team, developed production support utilities, among other support tasks. My initial five-month training included computer science courses.
