Matt is founder of the Noble Story Group, an organization that designs and facilitatesadaptive leadership coaching and professional development grounded in EmotionalIntelligent Leadership Theory in the education sector and beyond. In addition, Matt is a meta-coach, program faculty member, and content contributor for Daniel Goleman’s Emotional Intelligence Coaching Certification Program, and a regular contributor to Goleman’s coaching blog and Primer series (Morethansound.net).Matt has been developing school leaders for 13 years and teaching and leading in the K-12 education sector for 25. At Achievement First, Matt led leadership development for senior network leaders, principals, and other leaders across the leadership pipeline. Matt also designed interview modules to align leadership recruitment and selection to AF’s adaptive core competencies. Prior to the work above, Matt founded and led AF’s ARC-credentialed Residency Program for School Leadership. This district-charter partnership with Hartford, New Haven, Bridgeport, CT public schools and other charter networks prepared district leaders to drive adaptive change in district schools. As program director Matt designed and managed two half-year residencies, weekly coaching and mentoring, a weekly seminar series and two additional years of support after the Residency year for over 40 school leaders. Matt also created the program’s leadership competency framework, quarterly assessment checklist and rubric, and four additional performance-based assessments required for ARC certification.Matt began his leadership career at Amistad Academy Middle School after ten years of teaching. During Matt’s tenure as principal, Amistad distinguished itself as the #1 middle school in the state of Connecticut for African American student achievement CONNCAN, 2011).
