Matt Taylor Hobbs is an inquisitive and curious individual who’s attracted to the adrenalin-filled beauty and expansive nature of music and how it can encapsulate emotions of excitement and empathy. Matt thinks about music 24 hours a day and it gets him up in the morning. Matt’s interest in music started off at a young age when he was mentored by his father’s music tastes, who now works as an international nightclub DJ in central London. Although in Matt’s youth, he was obsessed exclusively with Michael Jackson, Neneh Cherry and ambient instrumental new age, his music taste has expanded into a massive range of genres that remain unrestricted and expand at an alarming rate. He is currently passionate about fusion genres: psych-folk, indietronica, neo-soul, nu-disco and progressive R&B. Although he is astonished by any musician of any race, age or nationality just as long as they break boundaries and produce something creatively original.Although a student of Graphic Design, Matt’s passion for music ballooned during his part time work for radio stations in London and Lincoln, in which he focused tirelessly and exclusively on helping emerging music scenes. Collaborating with agents and record labels, he gave musicians a unique avenue to promote their music in the UK, believing that the abundance of hidden talent had to be embraced. The promotion was in the form of interviews, exclusive music plays and news bulletins. The latter element being broadcasted along with sidekick Simon Tagestam from the influential Scandinavian music blog It’s A Trap.Matt’s interest in the music from the north is typical of his open-minded approach to the art form and his philosophy that quality is a higher priority than success and chart statistics.
