Email: mthayhur@gmail.comMy research interests focus on understanding how an individuals' external exposures and environment may interact with their biological and genomic makeups to produce malignancy, as well as how these factors may influence their response to treatment and their long-term outcomes. I am specifically interested in conducting this research amongst marginalized populations, such as sexual and gender minority (SGM), HIV+, low SES and/or racial minorities living with cancer. I am also interested in investigating how quality-of-life and financial wellbeing are impacted amongst patients living with cancer, and designing interventions that may be implemented in patients identified as at-risk. Secondary interests include cancers in adolescents and young adults (AYA), virally-mediated cancers such as those associated with HIV, and malignant hematology.
