Responsible for creation of Edge Fleet for SaaS product. Fleet consisted of development, staging and production environments of on-prem AI/ML hardware. Metrix Communication LLC was started in 2004 as a supplier for Community Wireless Networks, Wireless ISPs, Hotspot Operators and Experimenters. Our main product was the Metrix Kit, an open linux platform running on a single board computer for use in outdoor environments. We bundled this with a small (64MB) linux image (Pyramid) which we built and maintained for our customers. Pyramid was capable of running multiple routing protocols for use in mesh networking and had a captive portal (nocatsplash) which we also maintained.

In 2009 I opened a for-the-public hacker/makerspace with advanced fabrication capabilities. I've been involved in all aspects of the business, from physical build-out to hiring, IT framework to customer projects and capability upgrades. Primarily focused on providing fab services, workshops and design consultation, Metrix has become a hub for the Seattle hardware hacking community. Capabilities include laser cutting and etching, CNC, 3D printing and scanning, electronics design and advanced laser manufacturing of analog and RF circuitry. Customers range from tech industry, arts/architecture, medical/biotech and govt.

In the Summer of 2000, I founded a not-for-profit project to create a Community Wireless Network (CWN) in Seattle, Washington. In addition to running the Internet presence and services, I have evangelized both the SeattleWireless project and the FreeNetworks movement in front of audiences of 50 - 1000 people. Spoken to reporters and editors of many major publications, as well as liason with city government. Coordinated monthly meetings, weekly work nights, multi-city summits, one day events. Technical endeavors have included documentation on new hardware, bundling of custom configurations/distributions for embedded systems, reverse-engineering commercial hardware, site surveys, physical installations, and the creation of local content services on the CWN.
