As a Graduate Research Assistant at Portland State University, my role involves conducting in-depth research on human-wildlife interactions, with a specific focus on beaver-related environmental management in urban areas. I am responsible for designing and implementing social surveys, analyzing data, and developing evidence-based recommendations that inform sustainable coexistence strategies between beavers and urban communities. I am also currently working with a lab mate who is getting his PHD. Over the past few months, I've undertaken an in-depth spatial analysis research project focused on understanding the overlap between habitat quality indicators and fish presence within the Clackamas River Basin. Utilizing advanced GIS techniques in ArcGIS Pro, I conducted detailed spatial joins, field calculations, and model building to analyze habitat data for key fish species, including Steelhead, Coho, Chinook, and Bulltrout. This research has deepened my expertise in spatial analysis, data management, and GIS model automation, reinforcing my commitment to leveraging data-driven insights for environmental conservation.My work aims to bridge the gap between ecological benefits and human concerns, contributing to effective policy development and conservation practices.
