About Matt Sweet
When you are looking for a talk therapist, counsellor or psychotherapists it is vital to use an accredited professional. Talk therapy is a route which the NHS and other health professionals signpost people towards. A counsellors can work with short term and brief interventions, whereas psychotherapists will work with long-term interventions for complex challenges such as relationship breakdowns, or mental health. Since qualifying from a British Counselling & Psychotherapy Association (BACP) accredited course with a BA (Hons) in Integrative Counselling, I have gained experience working with historic trauma and ongoing feelings around mental and emotional health. Being a MBACP Counsellor for female and male clients, there have been results from setting healthy boundaries using a non-judgemental and confidential space to talk to build confidence and esteem. The personal goals which drive being a reliable professional is based on helping people form trust in their ability to reach out for help and do the work to find healthier balances. On a professional level, the qualifications as a personal trainer, corrective exercise specialist, a Hatha Yoga teacher and Mindfulness teacher has broadened the different interventions to keep clients accountable. Over the last 5 years there have been client testimonies who have improved their mental and physical strength. The work in the NHS as a Health & Wellbeing Coach saw patients look at affordable and realistic directive and non-directive goals to live more fully after the pandemic. And the most memorable support was for client to be able to propose to his now wife at Mount Everest basecamp. This ability to lean on the space between myself, and people who trust in the service makes for a good day for both parties. In the coming year, I will be doing continuous professional development (CPD) around spiritual practices as transpersonal counselling from theorists like Petrūska Clarkson and John Heron have informed my practice. This career enables us to work on the known and lived experience while also looking at the unknown and what is out of our awareness. I am registered member of the BACP, Friends of Yoga (FRYOG) and CIMPSA. The position utilises professional skills to deliver online, and face-to-face working for people who want a drop-in space. Every Monday afternoon (online) from 3-6pm, and on a Wednesday afternoon (face-to-face) from 1pm until 15:45 at Endeavour House.
