Executive Director of the Thriving Communities Institute (TCI) and Senior Vice President of Western Reserve Land Conservancy (the Land Conservancy). For those that may not be aware, the Land Conservancy’s service area includes about 20 counties in northern Ohio, and we serve a great diversity of communities including rural, exurban, and urban. We have preserved more than 70,000 acres and have created more than 193 public parks and preserves. The organization’s Thriving Communities Institute (TCI) – leads all of our urban work and is a leader in the transformation of vacant and unproductive properties in urban areas into new opportunities to attract economic growth and support safe, beautiful neighborhoods. My primary focus is leading efforts to optimize policy related to these and other areas (by way of example and not by limitation): urban land use, land banking, demolition and redevelopment, parks and preserves, urban reforestation, trails and greenways, and economic development efforts.

The Cleveland City Council is the law-making body of the City of Cleveland. It is comprised of 17 members, who are elected on a ward base system.The Council monitors the operation and performance of city agencies, makes land use decisions and has sole responsibility for approving the city's budget. It also legislates on a wide range of other subjects.The Council is an equal partner with the Mayor in governing the City of Cleveland. As the legislative body, the Council makes and passes the laws governing the city. Most of the Council's legislative work is done in committee. Matt Zone is a municipal government official with experience in strategic planning, land use, public art, environmental policy with the purpose of creating positive change for Northeast Ohio. With a background in Urban Planning, and a commitment to social equity, my work engages diverse community stakeholders, to inform and support sustainable community development goals. Specialties include: sustainability initiatives, smart growth, community & economic development, utility works, conflict resolution and safety forces.Born on February 14th in Cleveland, and raised by middle-class parents, Matt was taught the values of hard work and civic responsibility at an early age. He is recognized nationally, regionally and locally as a leader on environmental and arts & cultural issues.

The Cuyahoga County Domestic Relations Court is one of the largest and busiest courts in Ohio, handling over 5,000 newly-filed and post-decree cases annually. The Domestic Relations Court handles divorces, dissolutions, legal separations, annulments, and domestic violence petitions. Because of the special nature of cases involving families, the Court possesses “continuing” jurisdiction to enforce its orders and to modify orders concerning the allocation of parental rights and responsibilities of children, child support, and spousal support under certain circumstances.
