As the Facilities & Technology Manager at The Darlington Arena, I've optimized the stock management system by integrating Excel spreadsheets with our EPoS system, enabling precise analysis of stock and sales data. I'm leading the migration from local servers to secure cloud solutions, enhancing data security and improving staff efficiency, in collaboration with our IT suppliers. I also manage our digital presence by updating social media, websites, and mailing lists to promote rugby games, charity events, and club functions to inform members and engage a wider audience. I'm also part of the team that coordinates functions and events, including wedding receptions and NHS medical conferences, where I have to make sure we have correct stock and staff are well placed as well as ensuring all the AV systems are working and fully functional.

I joined the green king pub chain as a part time employee to support myself post graduation, working first in Exeter and then in Darlington. It has provided me a great opportunity to develop interpersonal skills through the demands of good hospitality; my role is to greet customers and take their orders as well as to serve in the sports bar where I have to work quickly with new customers during busy periods whilst also building relationships with the local customers.

This was a voluntary role I took on to help teach 25 beginners the basics of python over an 8 week course, culminating in them making a simple game. Every week the students would have a lecture and then come to my workshop where I would help them through a set of problems based on the lecture, using my experience of python to help them with the problems that beginners face in learning to code and to teach the problem solving way of thinking key to programming.
