Maulik is the Founder and Managing Director of Trestle Research. Trestle is a technology-driven social enterprise that supports not-for-profits, NGOs, and academics across various thematic areas. He is also the Growth Consultant for SurveyCTO (leading its operations in India) and a United Nations consultant supporting African countries with digitizing their CPI data collection.Maulik is passionate about technology and deeply understands data, which he combines with social impact to drive change through research, monitoring, and evaluation. During his seven-year tenure at J-PAL, he gained valuable knowledge and experience in research and data-driven policies. He worked on projects for Harvard and The World Bank, managing data for Nobel laureates Abhijit Banerjee and Esther Duflo, and honed his skills. Today, at Trestle, Maulik combines research, technology, and field study to ensure a more promising and sustainable future.His inspiration to start the impact movement came from a Bollywood movie, Swades. It made him realize how marvelous it would be to bridge the gap between technology and data to revolutionize social change. From there, he started working at the grassroots level to understand the challenges and eventually founded Trestle with a commitment to support the grassroots.Trestle works closely with organizations and policy makers to help them collect real-time and high-quality data, so they can make informed policies based on real-time insights. Trestle conduct technical sessions for social organization teams to help them build capacity, and he presides over important discussion panels on digitizing data and powering up impact for grassroots organizations.Maulik has a bachelor's in Engineering, multiple Master's degrees in Development Studies, Public Administration, and Business Administration, a PGD in Applied Statistics, and a certificate course in Data Science and Python. Besides academic interests, he is interested in understanding the real challenges of the Indian public society.With his dream to give back to society and make a positive social impact, he actively engages in community engagement projects. He enjoys learning about diverse cultures and beliefs, practicing meditation, and finding solace in music. In his free time, he volunteers with animal shelters and NGOs that provide education for marginalized communities.
