I am a meteorologist and climate science expert with >10years of experience working on research & development, climate science & modelling, climate change & adaptation, climate service development, seasonal forecasting, EW & DRR, and flood modelling and forecasting. I have BSc and MSc in Meteorology & Climate Science & a PhD in Environmental Science.I am currently working as a Scientific Officer at the World Meteorological Organization, coordinating the World Climate Research Programme Core Activities with a particular focus on advancing climate prediction, modelling simulation & observational capabilities as well as bridging science to society.Prior to joining the WCRP secretariat, I worked as a forecast and modelling advisor at the Welthungerhilfe in Bonn, Germany where I was focused on coordinating the technical teams in developing multi hazard risk forecasting models and tools to provide quantitative scientific evidence for anticipatory humanitarian decisions across the globe.Earlier to that, I worked as a Meteorologist and Climate Scientist at the United Nations World Food Programme in Rome supporting research and analysis of natural hazards and contributing to early warnings for emergency preparedness and response I also previously worked as a research associate at the regional climate centre - ICPAC and collaborated with partners such as the UK Met Office, IRI, ECMWF, Africa Climate Policy Centre (ACPC) & other UN agencies, supporting National Meteorological Services to generate and communicate seasonal forecasts and model climate extremes as well as raising awareness and communicating climate information through value chains to inform adaptation measures and disaster risk reduction to improve livelihoods in the Sub-Saharan Africa.
