Maureen Wilson began her fitness career in 1982, working as an instructor and manager at a leading-edge dance studio. Just two years later, she opened Sweat Co. Workout Studios, which soon became one of Vancouver’s most highly regarded workout spots. When the thriving business relocated to a larger space, Maureen carefully preserved the vintage décor and cozy living room feel she first created in the original studio. Her vision for designing a unique boutique-style atmosphere is apparent in Sweat Co.’s many unexpected features, like exposed natural brick, leaded French doors and the 1960s crystal and bronze chandelier hanging in the entranceway. Maureen’s business savvy gained her recognition in Smart Women, a bestselling book on successful female entrepreneurs. And her discretion and extensive experience as a fitness trainer draws some of the city’s most notable and choosy clientele. Flare magazine named Maureen one of the country’s best trainers. A former dancer, she is also a dynamic group exercise instructor and international presenter who teaches a wide array of classes.
