•Created resource sheets to accompany fiction and nonfiction titles. These sheets included big ideas, essential questions, thematic ideas, connections to CCSS, companion books, and links to multimedia resources.•Resources published on booksource.com for free use by teachers across the country.

Position funded September through March. Taught 23 students, grades 6-8, in small groups and one-on-one. Students had a range of learning needs, including dyslexia and the Autism spectrum. Reported to Assistant Principal and District Literacy Coordinator.• Modified curriculum for a range of learning needs, (Edmark, AGS Reading Skills for Life, SRA Corrective Reading). • Incorporated software programs into instruction (Lexia). • Monitored and assessed progress with running records and assessments included in SRA Corrective Reading curriculum.• Assisted with after school drama club.

Spent one semester in multiage first and second grade classroom, assisting with management and instruction. Then assigned to Language Arts Specialist to help with special projects and to substitute in grades PreK-2. Received training in STEP (Systematic Training for Effective Parenting) and Breakthrough’s Character Curriculum. • Individually tutored struggling readers in grades 1-2.• Monitored progress with West Hartford’s Bedrock Words list.• Led math center and writer’s workshop in first and second grade classroom.• Attended all professional development and training, including management, interactive white boards, literacy and math skills. • Led after school programs for grades 1-5 in reading, science, math, and arts and crafts.
