Aaniin, Maureen nindizhinikaaz zhaaganaashiimong. Gojijiing izhinikaade ishkonigan. Hi there, my name is Maureen and my community is Couchiching First Nation. I'm an Anishinaabe woman with Ojibwe and settler roots. I ground myself first and foremost in my relationships as an auntie, sister, daughter, cousin, community member, and friend.I'm also an experienced public health professional with expertise in knowledge translation and health communication. My strategic and evidence-informed approach to knowledge sharing prioritizes the needs and objectives of First Nations communities, collectives, and organizations, ultimately supporting their journeys toward self-determination. Through this work, I have developed a broad skillset, from group facilitation, to program design and evaluation, to plain language writing and data visualization. In my spare time, I'm privileged to sit on the National Steering Committee for Indigenous Climate Action. I am also trained to deliver their Climate Leadership Training Program. As an Anishinaabe person, I understand human health to be inseparable from the health of lands, waters, and animals.
