A senior executive with several leading media technology companies, Maureen brings a wealth of experience to governance issues in both the public- and private-sector. A Chartered Accountant, Maureen was Valedictorian of her graduating class at the University of Toronto’s prestigious Institute of Corporate Directors program at Rotman Business School.Maureen has a significant track record navigating the complexities of the Canadian regulatory environment. Previous experience includes working as an auditor with many regulated companies, and in the highly regulated insurance sector. In her current role, Maureen oversees regulatory strategy and government relations in Canadian broadcasting, dealing with the CRTC and the Minister of Canadian Heritage, as well as working directly with emergency measures officials in all provinces and the federal department of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness.Fluently bilingual in English and French, she currently serves as Chair of the National Alert Aggregation and Dissemination Governance Council, accountable for emergency alerts across Canada. This complex, public-private partnership brings together all 13 provinces and territories, the federal government and hundreds of police, fire and first responder organizations, weather forecasters, broadcasters and wireless carriers, in order to deliver critical, potentially life-saving alerts on wireless devices, television and radio.Maureen is CEO of Pelmorex Television, overseeing The Weather Network and Meteomedia television channels in Canada, as well as video and editorial content in English and French for Pelmorex’s digital brands. She previously held executive roles with Rogers Communications as Vice President and General Manager of CityTV, and with Canwest Media as Vice President of Global Ontario and General Manager of Global Quebec. She has a well-earned reputation as a change agent, having managed several major restructurings and technological modernization projects, with a focus on business results and clear communication to internal and external stakeholders. A member of the Television Executive Committee for Numeris, Canada’s broadcast measurement agency, she is engaged in efforts to improve data collection and audience measurement across digital platforms.Maureen maintains a partnership and regular dialogue with Environment and Climate Change Canada, with a focus on climate change impacts on business. She has also taken an active role in helping to lead diversity.
