The throughline in my career has been about emerging digital models and monetization. Curiosity about this space led me to join Spotify back in 2012 to start the brand partnerships group for North America, to lead an audio startup to $24M in cumulative revenues within three years, and to successfully win an inaugural YouTube Partner Grant. My recent roles have been focused on strategy and operations. Highlights include:- Business operations: As COO at Fresh Produce Media, I developed systems and workflows to stand up the company from day 1, and to operationalize our first look partnership with Audible. As the initial term was coming to a close, I acted as deal lead for the renewal, and successfully secured a further 3-year term during a major industry downturn.- Early-stage growth: I joined Spotify just before the first anniversary of the US launch, tasked with building the brand partnerships team for the States. Within 4 years, I’d built a team of 25 strategists across 8 international markets, and took us from 0 revenue to $75M+ in annual revenue- Cross-functional collaboration: As Head of Business Operations for Spotify Studios, I established collaboration models with all cross-functional teams necessary to execute against a new audio strategy: finance, content marketing, sales, licensing, international markets, and most notably R&D, as UX and platform had to evolve significantly to support podcasts. - Management: I’ve repeatedly recruited teams from the ground up, advocated for team members’ growth and development, ensured key resourcing necessary to reach team goals, and managed departments through change.- International operations: When I joined Spotify, the company was in 13 markets, and by the time I left in 2020, we had expanded to 80. Based initially in NYC and later in London, I worked with teams in every country where Spotify had a presence. I directly managed a team of 25 across 8 countries, collaborated on global partner marketing rollouts, worked with R&D teams in Sweden on podcast UX, and coordinated operations between the US and 15+ Markets podcast teams.As I consider my next big swing, I'm learning about and making connections in climate.
