Research topics in depth and provide summary reports relating to policy creation. Provide administrative support for the Massachusetts Special Legislative Commission on Postpartum Depression. Assist with planning the state PPD Awareness Day for advocates and stakeholders held at the State House. Draft remarks and correspondence on behalf of the Senator. Attend briefings and hearings. Review literature and data to create and evaluate legislation. Analyze budgetary impact of proposed legislation. Engage with constituents and advocates on issues of concern.

Job Responsibilities:~Assist the Public Policy Director with all aspects of public policy advocacy including: meetings with legislators and their staff, state agency administrators, public policy colleagues in public health, child welfare, education, and housing; community-based provider organizations, and youth. ~Draft advocacy materials such as testimony, budget fact sheets and letters, policy briefs, articles, policy analysis, research summaries, data synthesis and reports.~Framing and messaging on issues associated with teen pregnancy, parenting, and adolescent sexual health and youth development. ~Devising public relations efforts on policy priorities and connecting our priorities to current legislative/administrative focuses. ~Help to move forward policy agenda around increasing educational opportunity among expectant and parenting teens. Community Organizing: ~Information gathering from community-based providers and young people. ~Facilitate advocacy trainings of expectant and parenting teens throughout Massachusetts. Event Planning: ~Assist the Public Policy Director with all aspects of Lobby Day planning and execution including primary responsibility for organizing one of the largest State House lobby days for youth. ~Develop youth engagement strategies to help teens and teen parents bring their voices and concerns to policymakers. ~Liaison for provider community seeking to connect to policymakers and policy issues. ~Conduct evaluation and reporting on lobby day activities.
