Led Department of two officers, three senior enlisted and 12 junior enlisted personnel responsible for submarine internal and external communications, operations, navigational safety and maintenance with all associated electronic equipment. Supervised departmental maintenance, training and manning. In charge of the most visible department on a submarine which directly contributed to USS Maryland earning the 2008 Omaha Trophy, awarded to the best overall performing Strategic Deterrent Submarine, and whose emphasis is primarily on global operations.
