About Maurice Doucet

After more than 3 decades building commercial software solutions, I know what it takes to execute on a strategic vision. I lead teams with my sleeves already rolled up. I can see how to take the best of what a company has in intellectual property and talent, lead cross functional teams, innovate and invent new technologies where required, and build products and solutions that meet company and market needs. I also have the rare ability of being able to “talk-technology” to every level inside and outside a company. Over the last 18 years in the Hydrographic Industry, I have led the development of 10 commercial software products and solutions. These processing and visualization products are the epitome of “big-data processing” where real-time sensors can generate time series information at rates exceeding 1GB per minute. My current assignment has me innovating solutions using AIML to automatically recognize targets in marine sensor imagery. One of the challenges to using AIML in any industry is the access and training requirements of personnel using the technology. I have innovated solutions and workflows using AIML at the core, wrapped in familiar application concepts and workflows. These workflows allow the user to easily view, manipulate and annotate their data to train Deep Learning models, then use these models to automatically detect targets in operational environments and post-processing environments locally, or in the Cloud. I have been at the VP and C level in the commercial software industry for almost 3 decades and have had the privilege to be part of some of the most innovative companies, both public and private.Tags for all the bots:Delivering product, on time and on budget, leader, entrepreneur, founder, mentor, author, inventor, innovator, designer, software products, 2D, 3D, 4D, visualization, Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) Artificial Intelligence (AI), AI Machine Learning (AIML), Deep Learning, big-data, hydrographic software, bathymetry, sides can, passive acoustics, backscatter, water column, seismic, C, C++, C-Sharp, .NET, Python, TensorFlow, SQL, geodetics, cross platform development, data visualization, virtual reality, immersive experience, user experience, mission critical systems, real-time systems, management, manage up, have fun.

    Chief Of Software Research
    Qps 2011 - May 2021
I lead a global team responsible for the development of new bathymetric processing products. Key among them is Qimera, a next generation hydrographic processing application. We use Agile/SCRUM methodologies and Atlassian products to ensure continual progress on maintenance and new features. For Qimera, I leveraged existing IP of a recently merged company and integrated new technologies and user experiences to greatly reduce the workload of incredibly complex data processing tasks. I also employed novel AI/ML techniques to implement Qimera’s Dynamic Workflow feature which helps guide users through a number of previously complex tasks. Qimera can process and visualize all modalities of modern sonars and integrates this into a 4D visualization for the data exploitation phase. It is data format agnostic, cross-platform, and can handle the big-data size of modern hydrographic surveys.

  • Dive Labs, Inc.
    Cto/Founder
    Dive Labs, Inc. 1993 - 1996
Co-Founded Dive Labs to further research in the new science of Virtual Reality. Won a Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) Phase II contract with the US Army to develop an immersive environment for the infantry so that they could participate in the Defense Simulation Internet during large simulated wargames. Our primary part of this contract was to develop a virtual reality toolkit that could be used to quickly create virtual worlds for wargame simulations. Under the rules of the SBIR program, we had to show commercial spinoff viability of some of the technology. Out of this I developed AmberGL, a cross platform renderer independent SDK/API. That toolkit was then used to develop vrTrader, the first commercially available use of virtual reality technology in the financial market. vrTrader enabled users to view real-time stock and futures market data in a 4D environment with metaphors representing 12 dimensions of information per financial security.
