As senior researcher/business developer at Erasmus Centre for Urban, Port & Transport Economics I focus on two main themes: 1) conduct action research projects on how ports and port-cities can be developed sustainably, thereby striking a balance between economic and societal values; 2) develop educational products and provide training solutions that support port and maritime professionals around the world in better comprehending how to deal with wicked problems that ports and their port-cities are facing while striving for balanced and inclusive growth.

Maurice is the Head of Netherlands Maritime University, a department of STC-group, Maurice is responsible for the Master degree program Shipping and Transport. This Master is unique in the world as it is set up to run in two locations in the world: Rotterdam (The Netherlands) and Gwangyang (Korea). Maurice is responsible for the curriculum development, recruitment and selection of team of lecturers as well as for the execution of the program at STC-Group's main campus in Rotterdam as well as at STC-Korea, a branch school of the STC-Group.Previously, in his position as Senior Project Manager he was responsible for the establishment and implementation of STC-Korea as the first accredited Foreign Educational Institution in Korea.
