Maurici Ginés, founder and director of Artec Studio, with main offices in Barcelona and Mexico City and delegations in Miami and Madrid, has more than 25 years of experience working with light in different fields, using light as a medium to interact and establish a dialogue with space and people. He founded his lighting design practice to introduce and promote the independent lighting design profession. He became the president of the Professional Lighting Designers Association of Spain (APDI) from 2008 to 2014. He is a member of the International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD), has been awarded several national and international awards, in USA / UK / Spain, and his work has been widely published.Since 1998 Artec Studio designs lighting products for diferent lighting companies. He has done interactive light art projects in the urban public space, both ephimeral and permanent, and was awarded with an IALD 2014 Special Citation and Gran Laus of Design for his BruumRuum! project in Barcelona. His artwork evolves from his persistent investigations during all his years dedicated to light. Maurici also teaches in the master’s program in architectural lighting design at the Polytechnic of Cataluña University (UPC) and teaches a postgraduate course at the university’s Mexico City branch (UPC-Arquine.)
